Sweeter the second time around
By Student, graduate of DLSU attending Bible-study on 29 March 2013 Share:

When I was in DLSU, I was able to attend two campus meetings with my friend, Faith. I was unable to continue, though, because I devoted more time to my studies and eventually my schedule did not permit. Furthermore, I was hesitant due to differences in perspective on certain beliefs. However, years passed and I had the chance to attend a meeting again when I lived alone while studying in CEU. I had a flexible schedule, so I got to attend a meeting. There I learned something new, thus I opted to attend more meetings.

During the second time around, I was more open to listen and I started to enjoy the Bible-study meetings. One of the topics I enjoyed is on our being one with God—that God is within us. We are God’s abode. That is why we need to take care of our body so that it is fit for God to stay. Deep inside we know what is right and wrong because God is within us all the time. Sometimes we ask people if doing a certain thing is right or wrong when in fact we know the answer already. This is because God is in us speaking to us.

I also enjoyed listening to people’s testimonies regarding how they were saved. There was a story about a person who was hesitant to call on the name of the Lord. He got into an accident in which his car turned over seven to eight times. Every time his car turned, he called on the name of the Lord. From then on I realized that we must not wait for an extreme situation before we experience and enjoy God. I always share these testimonies to other people outside the meetings.

God has a special way of calling us. He called me when I was alone and lonely. He always does things at the right time. Meanwhile, I think young people tend to be ashamed of being part of these kinds of things because people would think they are “different”. Actually, we should not be affected by those people.

In addition, related to the coming of the Lord, I would say that people should be mindful of both the present and the future. Because we do not know when that day will come, we must get ready for that day. At the same time, we must live productive lives while we are still on earth. If you only serve God without considering your stay here in the world, you will have a hard time in life. But if you do not care when the Lord will come, you will not be ready. These two must, therefore, go hand in hand. We must do things in this world for the glory of God, and in that way, He could use us to help other people.

Right now, I am still exploring things and enjoying the Lord. There is still a lot to learn. As I learn, I become more aware and matured, and I find my purpose in life.
