How Many Have You Brought to the Lord? (Part 1 of 3)

How many have you brought to the Lord? (1)

This was the question Miss Groves asked a young Watchman Nee, a question he had to answer honestly and ashamedly, for he had brought none prior to that conversation. It was good for Watchman Nee that Miss Groves proceeded to help him by pointing out the need to deal with things that come between him and God. What an enlightenment! Perhaps we would consider having eloquence or persuasive powers as the key matters to successful gospel-preaching. The real key, though, rests upon having nothing between us and God. When the channel is clean, free from any blockage, then the water is free to flow and even can flow powerfully.

The Apostle Peter did say in his first epistle that the spiritual sacrifices, which include repentant sinners, are offered by a holy priesthood (2:5). Being a priest means being close to God because a priest is one who draws near to God, even staying with God, enjoying Him and delighting in Him. It is absolutely not a matter of religious ordination and affiliation. It has altogether to do with being with God and even being in God. When we come into God's presence, He enlightens us and infuses Himself into us. The light enables us to know our shortcomings, offenses, and sins. We see that we are wrong in the way we act, speak, and think; we are wrong towards our parents, siblings, teachers, schoolmates, friends, and other people; we are wrong in our handling of matters, in our attitude towards responsibilities, and in our wastefulness of time and finances; we are wrong because we broke or lost others' things, did not return borrowed items, and owed others money. (Perhaps we will see more; light can do a lot.) Then we acknowledge all these before the Lord one by one and He takes them away. He thus has a free way to fill us and we become holy. In the entire universe, only God is holy so when we are filled and saturated with Him, we are holy. As holy priests, we can present sacrifices to God.

Will you take this word and practice? We pray you will begin as soon as possible. The sooner you practice, the earlier you will be on your way to bring men to the Lord.

(We hope to receive testimonies concerning the above matter. Please send to contribute@campuslifeph.org)
