Concerning Campus Work

Our Vision – The Campuses
By on 13 June 2012 Share:

Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 26:19
Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.

Rom. 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one who believes, both to Jew first and to Greek.

2 Tim. 1:8
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…, but suffer evil with the gospel according to the power of God.

Regarding the spiritual work, there were five items plus one…. The first is the campus gospel work, the second is the home meetings, the third is the home gospel, the fourth is the gospel to all levels of society, and the fifth is the children’s work. There is one more item, which is visitation and shepherding…. The easiest among the six items is to go to the campus.16

Our goal is very clear. We need to work on the communities because the general population is there…. At the same time, we must work on the campuses. We need to gain the present generation of young people for the Lord’s recovery.17  Our gospel must spread to the homes, cities, and villages. However, to really gain the good material, we need to go to the young students. Therefore, we need to work on the campuses.18  We should pay attention to the campus work in these places. If we ignore the campus work in these places, it is like eating chickens but ignoring their eggs.19  I am not saying that the older saints and the working saints are not precious. Nevertheless, for the future of the Lord’s recovery, our burden is still for the students. Since nearly all of the full-timers will come from the college campuses, we should bring in the students. The more students we bring in, the better.20 The campus work should aim toward this goal.21

The campuses are important targets.22 We should have a good campus work. There should be some who preach the gospel to the college students in every college. This is a crucial work…. This work is very worthwhile.23 We should work to gain the students and to prepare the best material for the Lord’s recovery. We should build up a strong testimony on all the campuses.24 The urgent need in the Lord’s work today is that we would do the campus work to gain the young people for the Lord’s recovery that we may have a promising future.25  I realize that more and more the going on of the Lord in His recovery will be with the young people. No doubt the spread of the recovery in this country and elsewhere will be mainly with them.26 Every church must go to the young people…. This generation is the generation of the young people.27

Furthermore, the campus work is also the Lord’s flow on the earth today.28 The young people are full of potential. If they begin to run on the new way, none of us will be able to keep up with them. The campus work is truly of eternal value. We should all rejoice because the young people’s work is full of hope.29 Our gospel work should place special emphasis on high school and college students. We should spend and pour out our all to save, cultivate, edify, and lead these young ones.30 Today the most worthwhile and productive place for the gospel work is the colleges and universities. Because everyone in today’s society emphasizes education, university graduates are able to enter all levels of the society.31 We must have a deep understanding and a clear vision regarding this.32

We need to preach the gospel to sinners, and we need to share the Lord's testimony with Christians.33 As you go to the campuses, do not carry on a so-called work of Christianity. Go there to be people living, walking, moving, and working in the spirit as a true testimony of Jesus. We do not preach the gospel simply because we love sinners and want to see them saved from hell to heaven. This is the concept of poor Christianity. Our burden is to preach the gospel in order to bring people into a glorious vision, into the participation of Christ, and into God’s standard in the church life. What goal is higher than this? If you are an ambitious young person, you must take this as your ambition.34

In Acts 1:8 the Lord says that we shall be His witnesses. He does not say in this verse that we shall be preachers. The experiential preaching of the gospel based on our enjoyment of the Lord is actually the testimony of a witness. Through experiencing the Lord Jesus, we become His living witnesses. Therefore, our gospel preaching is not merely preaching; it is a testifying.35  To be Christ's witnesses is to be His testimony.36  Witnesses are those who bear a living testimony of the resurrected and ascended Christ in life.37 Many people have not heard the gospel because you have not yet testified to them…. We must seek out every opportunity to testify to others.38 The testimony of the gospel needs to go out from us until the Lord’s return.39
